Love Letters 2 Lebanon is a project founded in New York City in October, 2019. Our mission is to share the power of art and storytelling with children affected by the Lebanese Revolution.
By partnering with local organizations in Beirut, Love Letters 2 Lebanon hosts glass-painting workshops and shares letters of encouragement, hope, and love from supporters around the world.
We have traveled from New York to Lebanon to share our message, and you can too. Join the movement by writing a love letter, making a donation, or participating in our next workshop.
The Revolution in Lebanon is a protest movement that typifies the complex challenges we face around the world. From corruption, to pollution, to religious and gender unity; Beirut is the embodiment of the modern human problems in a 7,000 year old city.
These challenges will require optimism and deep empathy to overcome. Fortunately, the generation that will solve them have already stood up for gender equality, religious freedom, and the right to individual expression in every part of the world.
Rallies have been occurring around the globe in support of this transformation. People of all ages and religious backgrounds have gathered daily to demand better services, a crackdown on corruption and the removal of an elite they say has been ruling Lebanon like a cartel for decades.
The rallies have created a rare moment of national unity, in a country often characterized by its divisions. When rallies migrated to New York City, the New York-based artist collective, Light Noise, painted a canvas flag with symbols of all religious and spiritual faiths, representing the unity of the Lebanese protestors. After collecting signatures on the flag and letters of support from protestors that night, Love Letters 2 Lebanon was born.
We are a group of volunteers that can remember times when someone new came into our life, with a new Way of Life... They came with a story and a skill that inspired our imagination.
We believe the world needs creative solutions to the problems we're facing and inspiring kids with art will prepare them for the times ahead.
This is why we're in Lebanon, to listen and learn from kids displaced by the Revolution and to share our skills and art with them.
We are now raising money to fulfill this promise. Along with the signed flag, we will be spreading the power of art to elevate the voice of the masses. Schools have been forced to close during the revolution, so we will be partnering with local organizations to teach children how to make glass paintings that reveal the messages they want to share with the world.
